Owners of care facilities are encouraged to adopt efficient and sustainable standards.
The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) recently announced new guidances for upcoming changes to Mortgage Insurance Premiums (MIP) for green building certifications. New rates for “Green MIP” go into effect on October 1, 2022, and are meant to encourage nursing homes and assisted living facilities to incorporate new energy and water-efficient technologies into their construction and property operations.
“We want to make sure that the imperative to address climate change is compatible with the need to ensure the availability of residential care in communities,” said Federal Housing Commissioner Julia Gordon. She said that the financial incentives should “ultimately reduce operating costs for these facilities.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Commissioner Gordon as she implements water and energy guidance for care facilities.
- For Secretary Marcia Fudge to seek God’s direction as she oversees HUD operations.
- For the president and his advisors as they enact housing policies.
